Nureyev Resting After Rehearsal

Nureyev Resting (After Rehearsal)
Designed and Handcrafted by Alex Soldier

The Rudolf Nureyev statuette is a museum-quality collectible sculpture by Alex Soldier honoring one of the most influential ballet dancers of the twentieth century. Renowned for his unparalleled artistry, athleticism, and expressive power, Rudolf Nureyev redefined the role of the male dancer, elevating it to equal prominence with that of his female counterparts. By fearlessly bridging the worlds of classical ballet and modern dance, he transformed the art form and inspired generations of performers around the world.

In homage to this extraordinary figure, Russian World Gallery commissioned the master jeweler Alex Soldier to create a statuette that captures Nureyev's essence, using Firsov's artwork as a point of reference.

Alex Soldier immersed himself in extensive research, studying photographs and archival film footage to faithfully capture not only Nureyev's physical elegance, but also the emotional intensity and commanding stage presence that defined his legendary career. The result is far more than a portrait, it is a sculptural celebration of artistic excellence, discipline, and the enduring legacy of one of ballet's greatest icons.

Entirely handcrafted in New York City, the sculpture is composed of more than forty individually constructed components in gold and platinum. Each element is meticulously finished using Alex Soldier's signature proprietary metalwork techniques, creating richly textured surfaces that reveal exceptional depth, movement, and dimensionality. The extraordinary complexity of the construction reflects the artist's lifelong commitment to innovation and his ability to transform precious metals into emotionally resonant works of art.

Balancing technical mastery with sculptural elegance, the Rudolf Nureyev statuette captures the grace, strength, and expressive energy that made the dancer a cultural legend. Rich in symbolism and extraordinary craftsmanship, the work transcends portraiture to become a timeless collectible sculpture celebrating the universal language of dance and the pursuit of artistic perfection.

The sculpture has been exhibited internationally at distinguished private exhibitions, including the Mougins Gallery in Cannes, France, and the United Nations, further underscoring its cultural significance and artistic merit.
