La Divina

Commissioned by the Ardani Artists for 125th Anniversary of Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev—the greatest ballet impresario and founder of the "Russian Seasons" abroad in the beginning of the 20th Century from which many famous dancers and choreographers would later arise. Alex Soldier created the 5-inch miniature from a photograph of Diana Vishneva performing in Don Quixote. La Divina consists of 12 separate, individually textured parts made of silver, gold and platinum with a lapis base. It was awarded in 1997 during the celebration of Diagilev’s Anniversary at Lincoln Center to principal dancers Vladimir Malachov (ABT), Ulyana Lopatkina (Mariinsky), Diana Vishneva (Bolshoi).
